Working 9 to 5 – what a way to make a living. If you’re barely getting by without any excitement in your life, make the most of the Northern Fringe Festival’s plethora of events staged after hours for you to enjoy. Here’s a small taste of some of the events on offer as the sun sets.
Sonic Alliance: 5-7 July
The Old Courthouse Theatre will be taken over from this afternoon with tantalising art installations, projections, screenings and performances. Expect aerials, hoops, fire, live music, and more.

Astronomical 2: 5-20 July
There’s no better way to appreciate the night sky than with a telescope! Join in this educational play that takes you on a journey of the universe while meeting some of the biggest names in astronomy’s history.

Debauched Late Night Burlesque: 6-13 July
Put the kids to bed, sneak out, and get ready for an incredible night of mischief! Debauched features an incredible array of burlesque and cabaret stars in a no-holds-barred, heart-racing titillating performance, finishing just before midnight.

AFCM Artists @ Perc Tucker: 17 & 23 July
Visit the Perc Tucker Regional Gallery after its doors shut to the public for two intimate performances by some of this year’s Australian Festival of Chamber Music visiting artists! Sydney’s Maggie Pang and the A.S.H Trio will delight with two incredible nights of music.

Starlight Move Haus: 19-28 July
Dancing with friends is always a blast – but dancing under the stars as part of live performances is twice as exciting. Find the Starlight Move Haus in Queens Gardens for two weeks during the Festival, in a clear-topped marquee protecting you from the elements.

Halo: 19 July – 4 August
The Saint will be joined by a mountain-load of friends (literally) when Castle Hill is lit up in spectacular fashion for the final two weeks of the Northern Fringe – find a spot in Queens Gardens for the best view!

Fantastica: 20 July
Say goodbye to reality when Latin Vibrations take you on a colourful journey through movement – be joined by some of the most talented performers from across the city in Fantastica.

Spiegel Tease: 26 July
Presented by VaVoom Room’s own Vivienne Starr, Spiegel Tease will fill the Wonderland Spiegeltent with a tantalising night of burlesque, comedy, cabaret, circus and more!

Ephemera Projections: 26 July – 4 August
The Strand Ephemera is an incredible outdoor sculpture exhibition to experience no matter what time you visit the esplanade – but of a night time, you will be treated to some incredible displays as new artworks appear; the work of some talented local and national projection artists.

Block Party: 4 August
There’s no better way to celebrate the end of an event than with a massive party – and to wrap up the Ephemera, all of Townsville’s invited! Enjoy food trucks, live music, and take your last look at the incredible work of local and international artists along our foreshore!
